Bangor Abbey & Graveyard Tour

in ‘The Land of Saints and Scholars’

Join our fellow guides at Dander Down Tours for a fascinating walking tour of Bangor Abbey. The origins of the Abbey date back to 558 AD and you will learn about its founder St. Comgall and his missionaries St. Columbanus and St. Gall who left Bangor to spread Christianity throughout Europe. During the tour, you will see the remains of 12th Century St Malachy’s Wall and the 14th Century Norman Tower as well as the artifacts within the Abbey. You will then tour the graveyard and discover the stories of famous townsfolk. Then you'll walk along the Bells Trail through Castle Park to the North Down Museum in nearby Bangor Castle and learn about the Ward family who lived there.
